AbstractThe dawn of smart industries will utilize myriads of interconnected machines, devices, and sensors in factory environments to perform intelligent operations. This paradigm demands satisfying diverse communication requirements through strong network connectivity and services. Network Slicing (NS) in the fifth-generation (5G) and beyond networks is a pragmatic technology that can be utilized to satisfy the communication requirements of smart industries. This paper provides a comprehensive insight on how different NS strategies can be utilized to realize smart industry applications. Furthermore, we simulate a smart factory environment to evaluate the performance of different slicing strategies under two network statistics: band-width utilization and the number of connected clients, along with different base station arrangements.
