    Abstract
Code orthogonality is a fundamental parameter in determining the system capacity in multiuser DS-CDMA networks. A novel derivation of the orthogonality factor for the UTRA FDD downlink is presented. Using this derivation, the orthogonality factors for representative radio environments are computed and the results discussed
